High Court Snubs Challenge To NY Union Wage Ruling

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 3:03 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a challenge to New York labor regulators' decision that a stadium-seating installer owed its small union a higher wage — one bargained by a larger ironworkers' union — under state law that requires "prevailing wages" be paid on public contract work.

The high court declined to hear the case after a federal judge threw out a complaint brought by Seating Solutions and its executives, who purportedly went to bat on behalf of their union, the United Federation of Maintenance...
