Apple Strikes Out In Bid To Ban Sales Of Samsung Phones

Law360, New York (March 6, 2014, 8:07 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Thursday shot down Apple Inc.'s request for an injunction banning the sale of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. smartphones found to infringe its patents, ruling that Apple had failed to show that its patented features drove demand for the Samsung products.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh denied Apple's request for a permanent injunction and entered final judgment that Samsung owes $930 million in damages, setting the stage for Samsung to appeal a jury's 2012 infringement verdict.
