Judge Thrashes Lawyer's Copyright Suit Against Google

Law360 (January 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Internet search company Google Inc. has been cleared in federal of court of violating the copyrights of website owners through its popular Google Cache feature, which was challenged by a poet-attorney.

The cache feature shed light on a touchy copyright issue unique to the Internet age: does fair use protection allow a company to copy a web page? The question is especially relevant to Google as it remains bogged down by lawsuits alleging massive copyright infringement through its Google Library.
