Samsung, Apple Trim 3 SEP Claims From Upcoming Trial

Law360, New York (March 10, 2014, 5:22 PM EDT) -- The docket for the upcoming smartphone patent infringement trial in California district court between Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Apple Inc. got a bit lighter on Friday after both companies agreed to drop all claims and counterclaims arising out of three standard-essential patents originally asserted in the suit.

U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh approved a joint stipulation under which Samsung agreed to drop all infringement claims as to U.S. Patent Numbers 7,756,087, 7,551,596 and 5,579,239. Accordingly, Apple also withdrew its counterclaims as to those patents,...
