BP Urges Tighter Claims-Center Control Than Report Favors

Law360, New York (March 10, 2014, 3:16 PM EDT) -- BP PLC on Friday objected to a court-appointed special master's report investigating alleged misconduct at the office handling payouts of its estimated $9.2 billion Deepwater Horizon settlement, urging the judge overseeing the litigation to order additional oversight of the claims center.

Calling former FBI Director Louis Freeh's latest report incomplete, BP said that the court needs to adopt its 14 recommendations as a “necessary starting point to ensure the integrity” of the court-supervised settlement program and establish procedures to adequately assess claims.
