Calif. Democrats Block GOP Bids To Suspend 2 State Sens.

Law360, San Diego (March 11, 2014, 10:32 PM EDT) -- California Senate Democrats on Monday derailed attempts by a Republican lawmaker to suspend two state senators on voluntary leaves of absence in the wake of bribery, fraud and voting scandals that have them in the sights of federal prosecutors.

State Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff of Diamond Bar on Monday introduced resolutions, S.R. 34 and S.R. 35, which sought to temporarily remove Sen. Roderick Wright, D-Inglewood, and Sen. Ronald Calderon, D-Montebello, until their respective criminal cases were resolved.
