Settlement In Kohl's ZIP Code Action Approved By Judge

Law360, Los Angeles (March 12, 2014, 5:40 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Wednesday approved a class action settlement between Kohl's Corp. and customers who alleged the retailer illegally asked for their ZIP codes when they paid for purchases with credit cards and then used such information for marketing purposes.

U.S. District Judge Richard G. Stearns granted final approval to the $563,000 deal, which resolves plaintiff Jacqueline Brenner's class action suit against the department store chain. The judge preliminarily approved the settlement in December.
