DOT Questions Timing Of GM’s Faulty Switch Disclosures

Law360, New York (March 13, 2014, 2:01 PM EDT) -- U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx told lawmakers Thursday that regulators are investigating whether General Motors Co. was slow to report faulty ignition switches in its vehicles, suggesting that the agency might have moved sooner to press the automaker to recall cars if it had known about the extent of the problem.

In 2005, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration performed the first of three investigations into crashes involving some of the models of cars GM recalled last month, Foxx told a Senate panel.
