Vodafone Puts Up $10B For Spanish Cable Provider Ono

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 2:11 PM EDT) -- Britain’s Vodafone Group Plc said Monday it will snap up private equity-backed Grupo Corporative Ono SA in a deal worth €7.2 billion ($10 billion), an announcement that comes roughly one month after the Spanish cable provider approved plans for a long-anticipated initial public offering.

The acquisition will allow Vodafone to combine mobile, landline, television and broadband services while immediately growing its customer reach by 7.2 million households in Spain’s highly competitive telecommunications industry, the British group explained.
