NJ High Court To Mull Protections For Watchdog Workers

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 6:20 PM EDT) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court certified on Friday a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary's appeal of a revived whistleblower suit over the retaliatory firing of a former director, who had served in a “watchdog” role in which reporting safety and efficacy concerns was a job function.

The state's high court granted certification to surgical product developer Ethicon Inc. and to J&J, which had won summary dismissal of a whistleblower suit filed by Dr. Joel S. Lippman, Ethicon’s former director of clinical trials, at the trial court level...
