NJ Lawmakers Want Light Rail Expansion Back On Track

Law360, New York (March 18, 2014, 9:29 PM EDT) -- New Jersey legislators testified Monday before the state's Senate Transportation Committee, asking for the completion of the much-delayed Hudson-Bergen Light Rail's northern corridor section.

Despite the rail line's name, Bergen County lacks access to it — its tracks do not extend past Hudson County. The project ran into cost overruns and location disputes in the 14-year period that it remained unfinished, according to legislators and prior statements by NJ Transit. Senate majority leader Loretta Weinberg appeared at the hearing in support of the project.
