Fla. Senate OKs Bill Barring Anti-Gun Insurance Bias

Law360, Miami (March 18, 2014, 8:02 PM EDT) -- The Florida Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would prohibit property and automobile insurers from discriminating against gun owners and give gun owners the right to sue under the state's unfair trade practice law if they're denied coverage.

The senators voted 36-3 without debate in favor of S.B. 424, which links an existing statute prohibiting insurers from discriminating against gun owners to the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
