Wal-Mart Can't Block Approval For $1.7M Wage Deal

Law360, New York (March 19, 2014, 8:07 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge gave preliminary approval Wednesday to a $1.7 million settlement between staffing companies and workers in a proposed wage class action, despite opposition from Wal-Mart Stores East LP and another remaining defendant that were found to lack standing to challenge the deal.

U.S. District Judge Christina A. Snyder gave a preliminary green light to the settlement, which calls on Premier Warehousing Ventures LLC and Rogers-Premier Unloading Services LLC to shell out $1 million and Impact Logistics Inc. to pay $700,000.
