Brazil Accuses Alstom, Others Of Subway Bid-Rigging Plot

Law360, New York (March 20, 2014, 7:00 PM EDT) -- Brazil's antitrust watchdog launched a formal case Thursday accusing local units of Alstom SA, Caterpillar Inc. and others of conspiring to rig bids for subway car sales and related projects in several major cities based on a leniency filing from Siemens AG.

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, decided to push ahead with its probe over an alleged cartel involving public purchases of trains and subway cars in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other cities for 15 years.
