American Ballet Theatre Settles Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (April 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- American Ballet Theatre Co. has agreed to settle an age discrimination suit involving a former trumpeter who claimed he was ushered out the door for being too old.

The New York-based group will foot the bill of more than $18,000 in back pay to Henry Nowak, who was fired in September 2005 after 28 years of playing the trumpet with the theater’s orchestra.

“Nothing in this decree shall be deemed an admission by American Ballet, and American Ballet expressly denies any wrongdoing,” according to a consent...
