Gov't Contractor Accountability System Needs Improvement

Law360, New York (March 21, 2014, 12:36 AM EDT) -- As the Roman poet Juvenal once remarked, CPARS watches the contractors, but who watches the CPARS? Answer: the Senate Financial and Contracting Oversight Subcommittee, at least every few years. And, a recent subcommittee hearing, headed by Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., was less than complimentary of the three interlocking systems that make up the government’s contractor accountability system (the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System, Past Performance Information Retrieval System and Federal Performance and Integrity System, aka “alphabet soup”).
