Calif. Jury Hands Riddell Win In Football Helmet Action

Law360, Los Angeles (March 20, 2014, 9:22 PM EDT) -- A California jury has ruled unanimously in favor of athletic equipment maker Riddell Inc. in a lawsuit brought by a high school football player left partially paralyzed after suffering a brain injury allegedly caused by a Riddell helmet during an on-field collision, Riddell announced Thursday.

The news comes just one day after Edward Acuna’s attorney told a California jury during closing arguments that Riddell owes $37 million in the suit alleging that the brain injuries the player suffered were the result of a helmet defect. In less...
