GoDaddy Hit With Spam-Text Class Action

Law360, New York (March 21, 2014, 2:20 PM EDT) -- GoDaddy.com LLC was hit with a putative class action Thursday by a customer who alleges the Web hosting company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by sending him and others unsolicated text messages.

Plaintiff James Nassiri filed the lawsuit in California federal court, accusing GoDaddy of ignoring his requests to not receive text alerts related to its Web and domain services. He says GoDaddy violated the TCPA by sending unsolicited text messages from an automatic telephone dialing system, which has the capacity to store or produce telephone numbers to be called using a random or sequential number generator.
