Jury To Decide Steel Co.'s $80M Boycott Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (March 21, 2014, 10:23 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Friday found that a jury must decide MM Steel LP's $80 million suit accusing a group of major manufacturers and suppliers of conspiring to run it out of business, ruling that the smaller company had sufficiently alleged a group boycott.

Denying defendants' motion for a directed verdict, U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt said the plaintiff had established that a boycott by Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., Nucor Corp. and others — if proved — amounts to a per se violation...
