NJ Sen. Floats Bill To Revive Direct Electric Car Sales

Shirley Turner, D-Mercer, announced legislation Monday that would allow consumers to purchase electric cars directly from manufacturers, a bill designed to nullify a new Motor Vehicle Commission rule that drew sharp criticism from electric car manufacturers and environmentalists.

Turner announced a new bill that would amend the MVC's recently passed rule requiring all new vehicle sales to go through brick-and-mortar franchise dealerships, making the state the third in the nation to block direct-to-consumer sales for car manufacturers.
