Chase Medical Comes Up Short In Treble Damages Bid

Law360, New York (April 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chase Medical Technologies has fallen slightly short in its bid for treble damages, months after a Texas jury unanimously found in favor of the company in a patent infringement suit over a surgical technique for repairing hearts after a heart attack.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn opted to double the jury's initial award, handing Chase Medical $306,669.12 for lost profits and another $306, 669.12 in enhanced damages stemming from the willful infringement finding.
