CPPIB To Pour $250M Into Chinese Real Estate Venture

Law360, New York (March 25, 2014, 2:33 PM EDT) -- The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board said Tuesday it will invest $250 million over time in the Chinese residential real estate market through a new joint venture with China Vanke Co. Ltd., the country’s largest residential developer.

Alongside Vanke, Toronto-based CPPIB plans to invest in new residential development projects in China’s larger cities, which are experiencing rising incomes and seeing stronger demand for middle income housing, according to a statement. Vanke will take the lead in sourcing projects for the venture to invest in.
