Lawmakers Propose Closing Door On Online Gambling

Law360, New York (March 26, 2014, 4:34 PM EDT) -- In the midst of mounting opposition, federal lawmakers on Wednesday formally introduced legislation that would close a loophole in the 1961 Federal Wire Act and roll back a legislative wave at the state level authorizing online gambling.

With the backing of a bipartisan group of colleagues, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, introduced legislation that would restore the historical interpretation of the Wire Act as banning online gambling.
