UK Won't Ixnay Microsoft's Pig Latin Ad Dissing Google

Law360, New York (March 27, 2014, 4:11 PM EDT) -- The U.K.’s advertising watchdog said Wednesday that a Microsoft Corp. ad in “pig latin” did not misleadingly imply that the company’s Outlook email service offered greater privacy than Google Inc.’s Gmail.

The Advertising Standards Authority — the U.K.’s independent regulator of advertising across all media — said a radio ad for Microsoft Outlook began with a voice-over saying, “Ymay ivatepray emailway isway onway ofway eirthay usinessbay,” or, “My private email is none of their business.”
