Ethanol Fuel Harms Boat Engines, Lawsuit Claims

Law360, New York (April 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A boat owner has filed a proposed class action against several major oil companies including Exxon Mobil Corp., ConocoPhillips Co. and Chevron USA Inc., claiming that their ethanol-blended gasoline damages marine fuel tanks and engines.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claims the companies did not inform boat owners their their vessels could be damaged by ethanol-blended fuel.
