Honda, Kia Among Targets In Blitz Of Safety Patent Suits

Ltd., Kia Motors Corp., Mazda Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. were slapped with patent infringement complaints Tuesday in California federal court alleging they have flouted patents covering car safety and radar systems.

Signal IP Inc., a subsidiary of patent acquisition and monetization firm Marathon Patent Group Inc., filed nearly identical suits accusing the car companies of violating various combinations of six of its patents through their use of blind spot detection and other monitoring systems.
