Microsoft Revises Office Software Amid Patent Dispute

Law360 (February 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Businesses are being asked to install updates to Microsoft Office, among the world's most popular software applications, due to the technology giant’s $9 million loss in a patent infringement dispute with a Guatemalan inventor.

Last year, a California federal jury awarded Carlos Armando Amado $9 million after determining that Microsoft misappropriated technology used to link spreadsheet data between its Excel spreadsheet and its Access database program.
