FDA Tentatively Ties Salmonella To Cereal Recall

Law360, New York (April 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that a recent spate of salmonella cases appears to be linked to a batch of cereals that was recalled earlier this month.

On Monday, the FDA revealed that nearly two dozen people in 14 states had already been diagnosed with salmonellaosis. The agency said it believes the outbreak was triggered by the same strain of the bacteria recently discovered in Malt-O-Meal's unsweetened puffed rice and unsweetened puff wheat cereals.
