H&R Block Beats Employee Wage Suit Appeal In 8th Circ.

Law360, Washington (May 2, 2014, 5:00 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Thursday affirmed the dismissal of a class action accusing H&R Block Enterprises LLC of illegally refusing to pay tax professionals for training time, agreeing with a lower court that the workers were not employees of the firm during the training.

A three-judge panel ruled that a Missouri federal judge did not err when he granted the accounting giant's motion for summary judgment in the consolidated class action over the training course it requires employees to take after tax season ends.
