Pliant Plucks Sonnenschein To Be Special Counsel

Law360, New York (February 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bankrupt Pliant Corp. has requested the services of Sonnenschein, Nath and Rosenthal LLP, hoping that the firm can help navigate the beleaguered food packaging company through the often choppy waters of Chapter 11 proceedings.

Pliant filed a motion to hire the firm as special counsel on February 3 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, exactly one month after filing for bankruptcy protection.

The company, which makes cereal-box liners, listed partner Steven L. Rist as the principal counsel for the ailing food services company.
