State Department Moves To Ease Satellite Export Rules

Law360, New York (May 13, 2014, 11:07 PM EDT) -- The State Department on Tuesday began loosening export restrictions on space systems like commercial satellites and related articles, drawing praise from industry groups that had long fought against the "excessive" restrictions.

Under interim final rules published by the State and Commerce departments, less-sensitive technologies will be moved from U.S. Munitions export controls and placed under the more lenient Commerce Department controls.
