Baker Botts' Ethics Expert Says No Conflict In Patent Work

Law360, Dallas (May 13, 2014, 6:48 PM EDT) -- Teeing up the case for closing arguments, Baker Botts LLP on Tuesday rested its defense in a $50 million malpractice suit, with a legal ethics expert who told jurors there was no conflict of interest in the firm's representing two rival clients in patent prosecutions for similar technology.

Expert witness Charles Wolfram, a professor emeritus of Cornell University Law School, told jurors that Baker Botts was well within the bounds of Texas ethics rules in representing both Axcess International Inc. and its rival Savi Technology Inc....
