By Jacqueline Bell (April 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Texas jury has issued an $84.25 million verdict against Amerco's U-Haul International Inc., saying the company should pay up for injuries sustained by a 74-year-old man who was severely injured when the U-Haul truck he rented rolled over him.
Talmadge Waldrip sued U-Haul in 2006, alleging that he parked the truck he rented from the company on a slight incline, but the parking brake quickly failed, causing the truck to run over him. Waldrip's pelvis was crushed in the accident, partially paralyzing him from the waist down.
