Law360, New York (May 15, 2014, 4:54 PM EDT) -- Costco Wholesale Corp. was hit with a proposed class action Tuesday in California court by a former employee alleging the discount retail giant doesn't provide compensation for rest or meal breaks and that it retaliated against him for reporting sexual harassment to the management.
Lead plaintiff Micah Ornelas claims Costco does not provide rest and meal periods to its warehouse employees or compensate them for the breaks as required under California law. He also alleges Costco fired him for reporting sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions to his warehouse supervisor. The proposed class was not specified in the suit.
