Judge Postpones Detroit Bankruptcy Trial Until August

Law360, New York (June 9, 2014, 1:18 PM EDT) -- A Michigan bankruptcy judge on Monday postponed a trial to finalize the bankrupt city of Detroit's plan to pay its creditors by nearly a month, saying the parties needed more time to prepare the massive amount of information that will be presented in the case.

In pushing back the scheduled start date from July 16 to Aug. 14, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes cited the city's "unfortunate" delays in providing critical information to many of its creditors, which had left them with inadequate time to prepare....
