Bill Seeks An End To Enron Loophole

Law360, New York (May 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A legal loophole that allows electronic energy markets to escape energy regulation may not be around much longer, now that a measure to close the “Enron loophole” has been added to the Farm Bill conference report.

U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Carl Levin and Olympia Snowe said on Friday that the Farm Bill conference report includes a measure to close the Enron loophole by requiring mandatory government oversight of energy markets.

The report must still be finalized and receive the approval of both the House of Representatives...
