Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser is said to have asked Lazard to put together an offer for the company, which has a market value of about $4.6 billion, and would consider a hostile takeover if friendly negotiations falter. Siemens confirmed Thursday that has agreed to sell its clinical microbiology business to Beckman Coulter Inc., a subsidiary of Danaher Corp., as part of a restructuring plan but declined to offer financial details of the transaction. ...
