Countrywide Exec Fired For Raising Red Flags: Suit

Law360, New York (May 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former manager for mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. and homebuilder KB Home has filed a whistleblower suit claiming he was fired after he questioned his employers' practice of granting loans to unqualified homeowners.

Mark Zachary filed the suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas accusing Countrywide Financial Corp. and Countrywide Mortgage Ventures LLC of retaliating against him in violation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Zachary was a regional vice president and manager for the Houston division of Countrywide KB Home...
