Ohio Drivers Sue FedEx Over Contractor Status

Law360, New York (May 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Seven drivers for FedEx Ground Package System Inc. in Ohio have filed a proposed class action alleging FedEx misclassified them as independent contractors.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Paul Kelly, Dean Johnson, Thomas Wenzlick, Kenneth R. Miner, Adelbert Lawrence, Russell Jackson and Robert Velo allege that FedEx owes them money for business expenses they pay out of pocket, employment taxes, workers' compensation and overtime benefits.
