DOT Approves Delta, Northwest Transatlantic Alliance

Law360 (May 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation has granted antitrust immunity to Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines and four of their international partners, allowing a plan to combine transatlantic operations to proceed.

With the grant of antitrust immunity, the two U.S. airlines will be allowed to coordinate fare, services and capacity with Air France, Alitalia, Czech Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Northwest currently has an alliance with KLM, and Delta has cooperative arrangements with Air France, Alitalia and Czech Airlines.
