Judge Allows Examiner To Probe Misconduct At Refco

Law360, New York (March 17, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- In light of allegations of fraud and misconduct by commodities firm Refco prior to its Chapter 11 filing, a bankruptcy court has permitted the U.S. Trustee in the case on Thursday to appoint an examiner to investigate the claims.

Ignoring opposition from the company’s lenders, led by Bank of America, and Refco’s creditors committee, Judge Robert Drain allowed U.S. Trustee Deirdre Martini to select an examiner of the allegations.
