Fired News-Press Reporters Still Out In The Cold

Law360 (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board has fallen short in its quest to have a federal judge issue an order that would reinstate eight reporters who were fired by the Santa Barbara News-Press, allegedly for taking part in union activity.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Steve Wilson of the Central District of California shot down the temporary injunction request, ruling that publisher Wendy McCaw's First Amendment rights took precedence over the reporters' allegations, according to the 33-page decision.
