Discover Seeks $6B In Visa, MasterCard Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (June 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Discover Financial Services Inc. is seeking $6 billion in damages from MasterCard Inc. and Visa USA Inc. in an antitrust suit accusing the credit card leaders of wielding their power to shut Discover out of the marketplace, according to a Visa memorandum unsealed on Monday.

The amount of damages sought by Discover in the suit, filed four years ago in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, had not previously been made public.
