Hi-Tech Execs Want Out Of Jail After Recall

Law360, New York (October 17, 2014, 4:21 PM EDT) -- Two executives of weight-loss supplement maker Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Inc. jailed for contempt for failing to comply with a recall order urged a judge Thursday to free them, saying Hi-Tech has completed the recall under a $40 million sanctions package.

Jared Wheat and Stephen Smith told U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell Thursday that the company has met all the requirements under a recall for products that claim they can cause substantial weight loss. The men have been in jail for 42 days as of Oct. 17.
