Boston Scientific Hit With $27M Bellwether Mesh Verdict

Law360, Los Angeles (November 13, 2014, 11:23 PM EST) -- A Florida federal jury on Thursday decided Boston Scientific Corp. owes $26.7 million to four women who say they were injured by a defective pelvic mesh implant, the first federal jury verdict in the sprawling litigation, a plaintiffs' attorney said.

The jury returned a verdict finding negligence by Boston Scientific in manufacturing the Pinnacle Pelvic Floor Repair Kit in a way that was unreasonably dangerous to its users and in failing to warn the plaintiffs of foreseeable risks, according to Joseph A. Osborne of Babbitt Johnson Osborne & Le Clainche PA, which is representing the plaintiffs.
