Smart & Final's $3M Deal OK'd In Class Wage Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (November 18, 2014, 9:30 PM EST) -- A California judge on Tuesday gave final approval to bulk goods retailer Smart & Final Stores LLC's $3 million settlement of a class action alleging the company shorted the wages of more than 16,000 Golden State workers.

At a brief fairness hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge William Highberger said he would grant final approval to the agreement, under which the retailer will pay $3.095 million to 16,352 current and former employees to settle claims that it shorted its retail workers on their overtime wages and failed to provide state-mandated rest and meal breaks.
