City Says Exxon Shirked Petroleum Cleanup Duties

Law360, New York (June 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The city of San Francisco has accused ExxonMobil Corp. of failing to clean up petroleum contamination at an old marine fuel storage terminal that is allegedly leaking oil into the San Francisco Bay.

City attorney Dennis Herrera said in the lawsuit, filed Thursday in San Francisco Superior Court, that Exxon should remove gasoline and other petroleum products that remain in the soil and groundwater at the terminal, which was closed more than 10 years ago.
