Adelphia Fraud Sentences Trimmed By Three Years

Law360, New York (June 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A bid to lessen the prison sentences for Adelphia Communications Corp. founder John Rigas and his son Timothy paid off Wednesday, when a judge shaved three years off the time each man will spend in jail for fraud.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Leonard B. Sand of the Southern District of New York means that 83-year-old John Rigas now faces a 12-year sentence, while 52-year-old Timothy Rigas faces 17 years behind bars, the Wall Street Journal reported.
