Optima Technology Sues Roxio Over CD Burning Patent

Law360, New York (December 15, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Optima Technology sued Roxio Inc. in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Friday, alleging that several Roxio products infringe on Optima's patent for a "recordable CD-ROM accessing system."

Optima is seeking an injunction against Roxio, best known for relaunching the Napster online music service, as well as unspecified damages, royalties and attorneys fees. The company also charged that numerous other companies are infringing the patent, but has not filed suits against anyone else yet.
