Verdict Upheld In O2Micro, Sumida Case

Law360, New York (April 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The verdict in the patent dispute between circuit makers O2Micro International Ltd. and Taiwan Sumida Electronics Inc. has been upheld by a federal judge, marking yet another defeat for Sumida in litigation between the two companies.

The November 2005 verdict awarded O2Micro $2 million in damages, with the possibility of an additional $2 million in enhanced damages and up to $3 million in attorney’s fees in a case in which O2 Micro alleged that Sumida was infringing its patents for inverter controllers used in laptop computers....
